Jeff and I are getting around to doing some of the hikes we have wanted to do for quite some time. This hike up to Lake Twenty Two met and exceeded all our expectations! The large growth forest is one of the last wonders in ….untouched by the loggers as an “experiment” as to what a forest would be like with no clear cutting. The result is this premier hike to a gorgeous lake in the basin of beautiful Mount Pilchuck! Along the way, there are great waterfalls amongst the giant trees and splendid views of the nearby ranges. The tread is excellent and there was enough snow by the lake for Angel to get her fill of flopping in it! There is a boardwalk along the fragile shore of the lake and there is a path around the lake entirely (there still resides a great deal of snow on this path). Elevation gain is gentle enough and this would be a great hike for children (two and four legged kind). Please don’t loose your beagle!
